Salma Rizvi, a woman in her thirties from Lucknow, has devoted herself to family while the world defines her by her unmarried status. Professionally confident but socially cornered, she agrees to an arranged match with the warm-hearted Sikander Khan. A work trip to London then brings her into the orbit of the free-spirited Meet Singh Sahni, forcing Salma to weigh security against the possibility of a life she had not imagined. Directed by Nachiket Samant and starring Huma Qureshi, the romantic comedy released theatrically on 31 October 2025, collected approximately ₹0.18 crore worldwide, and moved to Netflix on 26 December 2025.

The Monographमहत्व Significance

Single Salma is notable as Huma Qureshi's first lead in a mainstream romantic comedy — a genre she had not headlined before, typically cast in weightier dramatic parts. Sohail Sen's five-song EP, with its warm melodic sensibility and songs like 'Saiyaan Re Aaja Saiyaan' (lyrics Mudassar Aziz) and 'Drive Me Krazy' (Jassi Sidhu), foregrounds character and emotion over chart ambition. The film's theatrical fate (₹0.18 crore worldwide) and Netflix rescue captures the structural economics of small-scale Hindi romantic comedies in a streaming-saturated market.
Legacy

Single Salma collected ₹0.18 crore worldwide in theatrical before moving to Netflix on 26 December 2025, where it found a more substantial streaming audience than its theatrical returns implied. Reviews were generally warm, praising Huma Qureshi's light-touch performance and Sohail Sen's unassuming music. The film is likely remembered as Huma Qureshi's foray into romantic comedy, expanding her range, rather than as a landmark musical work — though Sohail Sen's songs are fondly regarded by her fans.
