पाक दामन रक़ासा

A social drama from Elephanta Film Company, Pak Daman Raqasa (The Pure-Skirted Dancer) explored the world of the tawaif or courtesan-dancer — a theme central to early Hindi cinema's fascination with women on the social margins whose art was prized but whose social standing was compromised. Director B. R. Oberoi worked within a tradition of films that cast the dancer as morally pure despite her profession, rehabilitating the tawaif's image through virtue and sacrifice. The film is believed lost.
