The second of Jaddanbai's self-directed features released in 1936, Hriday Manthan shows the same multi-role artistry as Madam Fashion but with a darker social conscience. Baby Nargis (later the iconic actress Nargis Dutt) appears again in a child role, making this one of two films in which she was directed by her own mother.
