Faheem Abdullah (born 29 September 1997 in Srinagar) is a Kashmiri singer-songwriter, composer, and filmmaker who first built a following under the alias "The Imaginary Poet" before releasing music under his own name. Largely self-taught in music, he pursued postgraduate studies in English Literature in Bangalore and, in 2019, co-founded the Srinagar-based production house Mad in Kashmir (later expanded under the banner NH1 Films) to support local filmmaking and creative talent.
He made his singing-songwriting debut in 2020 with the single "Jhelum," which he also wrote, composed, and directed, and which drew wide attention for its portrayal of everyday life and struggle in Kashmir. He followed it with independently written, composed, and performed singles and albums including "Ishq," "Gallan," "Ae Yaad," "Judayi," "Tera Hona," "Aankhein," the album Lost;Found (2024), and Riqqat (2025), singing in Urdu, English, and Kashmiri across indie, dream-pop, and Sufi-rock styles.
In 2025, Faheem Abdullah crossed into mainstream Hindi cinema as a playback singer on the title track of the Yash Raj Films production Saiyaara (directed by Mohit Suri), a song he co-created with fellow Kashmiri musician Arslan Nizami, with music by Tanishk Bagchi and lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The song marked his widest audience yet and introduced his voice to national Bollywood listenership, while he has continued to write, compose, and release his own independent material.
