Ehsaan Noorani (born 12 October 1963 in Mumbai) is an Indian guitarist and composer, best known as a founding member of the Bollywood music trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, alongside Shankar Mahadevan and Loy Mendonsa. He trained under guitar instructor Bismarck Rodrigues in Mumbai before studying at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, from 1985 to 1986. Returning to India, he built a career as an in-demand session guitarist and jingle composer, working with composers including Louis Banks and Ashok Patki, before director Mukul S. Anand invited him to score the film Dus — leading Noorani to bring in Shankar Mahadevan and Loy Mendonsa, forming the trio in 1996.
Since then, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy has scored more than fifty soundtracks across Hindi and other Indian languages, including Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), My Name Is Khan (2010), and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), with Noorani's Western rock and guitar-driven sensibility a defining element of the trio's sound. He is the first Indian guitarist to receive a signature model from Fender, released as the Ehsaan Noorani Signature Squier Stratocaster in 2011, and has won multiple National Film Awards and IIFA Awards with the trio.
