क्यूँ रोती हो बदली

'Kyu Roti Ho Badli' addresses the weeping rain-cloud — a classic device for projecting human sorrow onto the monsoon sky — and is one of the ten Himanshu Dutta compositions for Bhaichara (1943). The cloud-and-tears conceit suits Dutta's tender, Bengali-rooted melodic manner. The film's lyrics were the joint work of Kumar Vyas, Uday Shankar Bhatt, Ishwar Chandra Kapoor, M.R. Kapoor and Nazir Bedi.

Himanshu Dutta's compositional grammar came from the Calcutta film and gramophone world of the 1930s, kin to the Nazrul-Geeti idiom — soft orchestration, a strong melodic line, and pathos carried through the voice rather than arrangement. A monsoon-lament title like this fell squarely within that expressive comfort zone.
