इश्क़ बुखार

Ishq Bukhaar (इश्क़ बुखार), composed by Tanishk Bagchi and penned by veteran lyricist Irshad Kamil, is the centrepiece romantic track from the 2025 spy-thriller Tehran, released on ZEE5 on 14 August 2025 under the Zee Music Company label. The duet pairs the velvet warmth of Shreya Ghoshal with B Praak's raw Punjab-inflected ache across a slow-building arrangement of piano, strings and tabla that ebbs and surges like a pulse during fever. Running three minutes and seven seconds, it provides the emotional counterweight to the film's hard-edged espionage narrative, giving the thriller its only truly vulnerable human moment.

Tanishk Bagchi frames Ishq Bukhaar in a lush but restrained palette — piano introduces the melody with quiet insistence, strings enter as the verse blooms, and a subtle tabla pulse keeps emotional temperature rising without boiling over. Shreya Ghoshal leads with her trademark seamless breath control and light ornamentation; her transitions from chest to head register mid-phrase are precisely calibrated. B Praak's rougher grain sharpens the longing, carrying that particular warmth of heartbreak that made him famous with Filhaal (2019). Bagchi repeats the 'ishq bukhaar' hook in slightly varied harmonic contexts so each return lands heavier than the last. The production avoids 2025 Bollywood bombast — it trusts the voices.

Irshad Kamil approaches Ishq Bukhaar in the Urdu tradition of comparing love to illness: the beloved as contagion, longing as delirium — a metaphor beloved by Ghalib. But Kamil refreshes it by anchoring the fever not in the beloved's cruelty but in the lover's helplessness. The vocabulary stays clean — no ornate conceits — so the ache lands directly without needing a dictionary.

Tehran was conceived as Maddock Films' Independence Day 2025 release — a geopolitical thriller where ACP Rajeev Kumar (John Abraham) uncovers a conspiracy linking India, Iran and Israel. Director Arun Gopalan wanted a romantic song to humanise his steel-nerved protagonist; Tanishk Bagchi was brought in for that single emotional moment, and Irshad Kamil — his frequent collaborator — wrote the lyric. The Ghoshal–Praak pairing was announced by Zee Music as a headline casting decision for the film's musical campaign.

Ishq Bukhaar arrived in a year crowded with romantic Bollywood tracks; though it did not reach the viral heights of Raanjhan or the global breakout of Saiyaara, it demonstrated Shreya Ghoshal's enduring ability to anchor a film's emotional centre and established the Ghoshal–B Praak pairing as one to watch.
