'The Crown' (3:22) is Chhaava's most enigmatic track — a Persian classical lament set to traditional text, performed by Iranian vocalists Mahsa Ahmadi and Nooshin Ghayoor. Composed by A. R. Rahman, it functions in the film as the Mughal court's counterpoint to Sambhaji's Maratha themes, lending the villain Aurangzeb a tragic musical dimension. The use of two Iranian singers performing traditional Persian poetry gives the song an authenticity that no amount of production could manufacture.

A. R. Rahman has long been interested in Persian classical music — his Sufi influences and collaborations with Iranian and Afghan musicians trace back decades. For Chhaava, he saw the Mughal court scenes as an opportunity to bring authentic Persian musical culture into a mainstream Indian film in a way that had rarely been attempted.
