सूट पटियाला

Suit Patiala (सूट पटियाला) is a high-energy Punjabi-Hindi dance number from Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru's ensemble drama Yaariyan 2 (2023), released by T-Series as part of the film's soundtrack on 24 September 2023. Composed, written, and co-sung by Manan Bhardwaj — the album's predominant contributor — alongside Punjabi pop star Guru Randhawa and Neha Kakkar, the track is a bright, celebratory recreation-style song built around the classic Punjabi flirtation trope of admiring a girl's traditional Patiala suit. The song was released as a full video featuring lead actress Divya Khosla Kumar along with co-stars Meezaan Jafri and Anaswara Rajan, giving the otherwise dramatic, multi-story film a festive, wedding-song-style musical moment. Though the film itself underperformed at the box office, Suit Patiala's full video crossed several million YouTube views on the T-Series channel, reflecting the continuing pull of a Guru Randhawa–Neha Kakkar pairing.

Manan Bhardwaj builds Suit Patiala on a bouncy, dhol-driven Punjabi pop foundation typical of contemporary Bollywood recreation numbers — bright synth hooks, a thumping beat built for group dancing, and call-and-response vocal exchanges between Guru Randhawa and Neha Kakkar. Bhardwaj himself joins as a third credited singer, adding his own voice to the mix in the ad-lib and chorus sections, a pattern he repeats across several Yaariyan 2 tracks where he doubles as composer-lyricist-performer.

The lyric works entirely within the well-worn Punjabi wedding-song idiom of praising a woman's traditional attire — 'billo ni tera suit patiala, chunni shine mardi' (girl, your Patiala suit, your chunni shines) — using simple, direct Punjabi phrasing rather than elaborate Hindi-Urdu poetry. It is built for immediate, sing-along recognisability at sangeets and celebrations rather than literary depth, in the lineage of countless 'suit' and 'patiala' themed Punjabi pop hits.

Yaariyan 2, a spiritual successor to the 2014 hit Yaariyan and a remake of the Malayalam film Bangalore Days, follows three cousins — Laadli, Shikhar and Bajju — navigating love, heartbreak and family secrets. Suit Patiala arrives as one of the film's celebratory interludes, a wedding/sangeet-style set piece that lets the ensemble cast dance together amid the otherwise dramatic, interlinked storylines. Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru and produced by T-Series Films, the film released theatrically on 20 October 2023 but performed poorly at the box office (₹2.67 crore against a ₹25 crore budget), even as several of its songs — including Suit Patiala — found an independent audience on streaming and YouTube.

While Yaariyan 2 was a commercial disappointment as a film, Suit Patiala's official full-video on T-Series has drawn several million YouTube views, and a separate teaser cut of the song crossed tens of millions of views — a reminder that Guru Randhawa and Neha Kakkar's individual star power can outperform a film's own box-office fortunes on the strength of a catchy wedding-floor hook.
