A lament from Shahenshah Akbar (1943), with both words and music by Ustad Jhande Khan — one of several numbers in the film for which the composer also wrote the lyric. Its address of reproach and shame ('kahe kiyo badnam', why did you bring disgrace) marks it as one of the score's pathos-laden, emotionally interior pieces rather than a public court number.
