Sagar Movietone's 1931 action-romance Dilawar brought Master Vithal — the undisputed king of stunt cinema in the silent era — into the world of recorded sound. His ability to combine physical performance with vocal and musical content was the central challenge of the talkie transition for Bombay's action stars. The film also featured a young Mehboob Khan, decades before his elevation to directing Mother India.
