A mythological film from Imperial Film Company, Sati Madalsa dramatised the legend of Madalsa — a divine figure of Hindu mythology celebrated for her philosophical wisdom and her role as the enlightened mother who guided her sons toward spiritual liberation. Director B. P. Misra, one of Imperial's house directors handling mythological content in 1932, worked with D. Billimoria — an established Imperial leading man — to bring the narrative to life. The sati (virtuous woman) framing aligned the film with early Indian cinema's ongoing project of valorising female religious devotion and moral purity.
