रजनी की बारात

Rajni, a strong-willed young woman from Darbhanga, Bihar, organises her own wedding procession (baraat) after her boyfriend's authoritarian policeman father arranges his marriage to someone else. A comedy-drama blending female courage, North Indian folk traditions, and social commentary set against the rooted backdrop of Bihar.

Music by Bapi Bhattacharya, lyrics by Aditya Aman and Damodar Vyas, background score by Bapi and Adrijo Bhattacharya. The film draws on Bihar's folk traditions — dhol, folk instruments — in its soundtrack. Reviews noted no standout individual tracks ('pleasant and culturally appropriate, but no memorable song'). Specific song titles were not publicly indexed as of July 2026 — no song entities written per honest-omission protocol.

Rajni Ki Baraat is a small-scale female empowerment drama rooted in Bihar's folk traditions, notable for its commitment to regional specificity — Darbhanga's dialect, customs, and living music — in a mainstream Hindi theatrical release. Bapi Bhattacharya's soundtrack draws on dhol and folk instruments authentic to the Mithila-Bhojpuri belt, making it one of the few 2026 releases to foreground Bihar's musical heritage. Ulka Gupta's lead performance extended her range beyond her digital-native audience.

Rajni Ki Baraat had a limited theatrical run in May 2026, with OTT rights yet to be confirmed as of July 2026. Critical reception noted Ulka Gupta's committed performance and the film's cultural authenticity, while reviewers observed the absence of memorable standalone songs limited its broader reach. Its legacy will likely rest on word-of-mouth appreciation among audiences from the regions it depicts.
