Nikita Roy is notable as the directorial debut of Kussh Sinha and as one of the few prominent female-led horror-mystery films in mainstream Bollywood of 2025. Sonakshi Sinha in the title role anchors a genre experiment that attempts to use horror conventions to explore questions of identity and agency — a thematic ambition unusual in commercial Hindi horror, which more typically relies on supernatural spectacle. Paresh Rawal and Arjun Rampal provide marquee supporting value. Javed Ali's ballad 'Sun Sada' represents the film's most musically accomplished moment — connecting it to the classical ballad tradition that Javed Ali has sustained across a career spanning Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Ek Tha Tiger.

Nikita Roy released theatrically on 18 July 2025. Box office figures were not publicly confirmed at time of cataloguing. Critical reception was mixed: the horror-mystery hybrid premise attracted attention but the execution was considered uneven. Javed Ali's 'Sun Sada' from the Saregama soundtrack stands as the film's most enduring musical contribution, likely outliving the film's theatrical run on streaming playlists.
