A silent costume-adventure from Paramount Film Company, Laheri Lutaru (also known by the English alternate title Gay Bandit) followed the exploits of a dashing outlaw-hero who robs from the powerful to aid the vulnerable. The 'Laheri' (carefree/spirited) qualifier in the title signals the swashbuckling tone that distinguished the film from grimmer outlaw narratives. As a silent production in a year dominated by talkies, it was already an anachronism by the time of release, though silent films continued to circulate in smaller-town exhibition circuits through 1933.
