एक चतुर नार

Ek Chatur Naar is a dark comedy thriller set in small-town India in which Mamta Mishra (Divya Khosla Kumar), a resourceful widow of modest means, stumbles upon incriminating data on a stolen phone belonging to Abhishek Verma (Neil Nitin Mukesh), a powerful corrupt government contractor. Rather than going to the police — who are in Abhishek's pocket — Mamta constructs an elaborate scheme of blackmail, deception, and psychological maneuvering that exploits Abhishek's arrogance and the corruption around him. The film is a battle of wits between a man who has everything and a woman the system has ignored. Director Umesh Shukla — whose OMG: Oh My God (2012) was a satirical hit — uses the Padosan-echoing title to signal that the heroine is always the most dangerous person in the room, combining sharp comic timing with genuine thriller tension in its best moments. Neil Nitin Mukesh's Abhishek is a villain of the particularly Indian variety: not cartoonishly evil but recognisably systemic, his corruption embedded in the everyday mechanisms of government contracts and police complicity.

The two-song album features the punchy, Kailash Kher-fronted title track — a conscious homage to the 1968 Padosan classic composed by Vayu Shrivastav and Sharan Rawat — alongside the dholak-pop duet Gulabi Saawariya (Sachet Tandon + Shilpa Rao, music by Abhijeet Srivastava), a festival-energy piece that became the more widely-streamed of the two. Score was by Amar Mohile.

Ek Chatur Naar is notable for Umesh Shukla's sharp satirical instincts — honed on OMG: Oh My God (2012) — applied to the dark comedy thriller form. The film's title is a deliberate homage to the 1968 Padosan classic, signalling that its heroine is always the cleverest person in any room. Kailash Kher's rousing rendition of the title track and the Padosan-echoing musical wink distinguish the soundtrack from the generic.

Performed modestly at the box office (₹3.20 crore theatrically) before streaming on Netflix from November 2025. Divya Khosla Kumar's performance and the Padosan-nodding title track are its most discussed elements. Functions as an accessible satirical thriller on OTT.
