Synopsisपौराणिक कथा पर आधारित यह फ़िल्म बालक ध्रुव की कहानी है, जो पिता और सौतेली माँ के अपमान के बाद गहन तपस्या से विष्णु की कृपा प्राप्त करता है और ध्रुव तारे के रूप में अमर हो जाता है। मदन थिएटर्स लिमिटेड निर्मित और ज्योतिष बनर्जी निर्देशित यह फ़िल्म 1930 के दशक की आरंभ में भक्ति-पौराणिक फ़िल्मों की लहर का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है। जहाँआरा कज्जन ने सहायक भूमिका में अपनी संगीत क्षमता से फ़िल्म के धार्मिक गीतों को समृद्ध किया।

A mythological film based on the Puranic legend of Dhruva, the child-devotee of Vishnu who, despite being spurned by his father and stepmother, through intense tapasya (austerity) achieves divine grace and is immortalised as the Pole Star. Produced by Madan Theatres Ltd. and directed by Jyotish Banerji — the principal filmmaker of the Calcutta-based studio during the transition to talkies — the film belongs to the wave of devotional mythological productions that dominated the early 1930s. Jehanara Kajjan, one of the most prominent singer-actresses of the era, featured in a supporting role, lending her musical abilities to the film's religious songs.
