An early-1940s low-budget action picture from Master Bhagwan, the stunt-and-action director who would later give Hindi cinema the dance-hit 'Albela'. 'Badla' (Revenge) is best remembered as the film through which Bhagwan is credited with introducing fist-fighting to Indian cinema, and as one of the earliest scores composed by the young C. Ramchandra — working here under his given name, Ram Chitalkar.

The score was composed by C. Ramchandra, then still credited as Ram Chitalkar, with lyrics by Ehsan Rizvi — Master Bhagwan's near-constant collaborator, who wrote the songs and dialogues for almost all of the director's films. The soundtrack runs to nine numbers, a typical count for a 1943 stunt picture, blending light romantic and comic registers with the energy expected of the genre.
