A 1942 Hindi social drama produced by Kriti Pictures and directed by Shailen Ghosh, with Navin Yagnik and Kamla Varerkar in the lead. Like much of the studio output of the early 1940s, its narrative was built around a moral-social conflict and carried a song-heavy structure, with a devotional and Krishna-themed musical core scored by Rattan Lal.

Rattan Lal's score for Amar Asha leans heavily on devotional and festival idioms — multiple Hori (Holi) songs and Krishna-Radha bhakti pieces ('Sakhi Sooraj Khelat Hori', 'Vrindaavan Shyam Khele Hori', 'Baalam Bin Bhavan Na Bhaye Sakhi') alongside reflective pieces such as 'Yah Jivan Ek Kahani Hain'. The arrangements would have used the harmonium-tabla-dholak palette standard for the period.

Amar Asha belongs to the dense cohort of early-1940s social films whose chief surviving record is their gramophone soundtrack.
