Salim-Sulaiman are the Mumbai-based composer duo of brothers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, among the most recognisable voices in Hindi film music of the 2000s. Sons of Sadruddin Merchant, who led a scouts orchestra, with family roots in Mundra in Kutch, Gujarat, the brothers entered the industry in the early 1990s through jingles and background scores before graduating to full soundtracks. Their background music powered blockbusters like the Dhoom films and Krrish, which won them the Filmfare Award for Best Background Score, while as song composers they delivered era-defining soundtracks — the rousing title anthem of Chak De! India (2007), Fashion (2008), Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Band Baaja Baaraat (2010). Salim later judged Indian Idol, and the duo earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2009 for their work on the American children's series Wonder Pets. Since the mid-2010s they have increasingly focused on independent and devotional music through their label Merchant Records, whose annual Bhoomi series pairs them with singers such as Arijit Singh and Sonu Nigam; recent devotional releases like "Hey Ganpati" and "Dada Kishan Ki Jai" (2025) continue that journey.
