Ram Sampath is an Indian composer and music producer whose career spans advertising jingles, indie pop, film scores and television. Born in 1977 in Mumbai into a musically inclined family, he trained in Carnatic music as a child and first made his name composing jingles for major brands, while also producing Shaan's hit pop single 'Tanha Dil' (2000). He entered film composing in the early 2000s and scored Khakee (2004), but his mainstream breakthrough came with the Aamir Khan productions Delhi Belly (2011) — whose 'Bhaag D.K. Bose' became a pop-culture phenomenon — and Talaash (2012). He composed the anthemic title song of the television series Satyamev Jayate and worked as a producer on Coke Studio @ MTV; other film credits include Fukrey (2013) and Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016). He also won a landmark music-plagiarism case in 2008 over the title track of Krazzy 4, an early assertion of composers' rights in Bollywood. In 2024, his warm, rooted soundtrack for Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies — including the Arijit Singh hit 'Sajni' — brought him Filmfare Awards for Best Music Album and Best Background Score. He is married to singer Sona Mohapatra, with whom he runs the music production company OmGrown Music.
