Devotional writing of exactly this kind is what tied Tripathi to the mythological genre for the rest of his career — by 1948 he was not only scoring Shri Ram Bhakta Hanuman but playing Hanuman in it. Written in the Braj-inflected devotional register — more, mori rather than mere, meri — which immediately signals bhakti rather than contemporary speech. It is a direct petition: Ram is asked for help, without preamble or theological elaboration, in the manner of the folk-devotional plea rather than the composed literary bhajan. The Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema records the film, and Heidi Pauwels places it among the Ramayana adaptations that followed Vijay Bhatt's Ram Rajya (1943).
