'Duniya Mein Rahe' is one of the four Dharm (1945) sides Rattan Bai sings on, and the only one the Hindi Film Geet Kosh credits to her alone — on 'Jam Jam Rahe Meharban' and 'Jeevan Ki Dor' it adds unnamed other voices beside her. Sajjad Hussain composed it, to a lyric HFGK credits to Shewan Rizvi. Only the opening fragment of the mukhda has come down in the catalogues — literally 'may [one] remain in the world' — which is enough to place it among the film's reflective numbers but not enough to reconstruct its subject. No recording has been located and no print of the film survives. What this entry can state with confidence is the credit line; everything past it is described as reading rather than fact.

The only sound-related fact available is the pairing itself: Sajjad Hussain writing for Rattan Bai. Rattan Bai, who sings this song, was simultaneously part of its cast; her screen career had begun in Calcutta with New Theatres' Yahudi Ki Ladki (1933) and had taken her through Kolhapur Cinetone and the Imperial Film Company before she went freelance in 1938 and, in 1942, produced Saheli herself. Dharm is among her final credits. Nothing is recorded about which character sings this song, or where in the film it falls.

'Duniya Mein Rahe' has no recorded afterlife. It was not a hit, has never been reissued, and does not appear in any compilation of Rattan Bai's work or of Sajjad Hussain's early songs. Its value now is as one of the seven catalogued entries by which Dharm's real soundtrack can be told apart from the inflated fifteen-song list that circulates online, where eight Dada Chandekar numbers from Din Raat (1945) have been attached to this film.
