The song register of Kaise Kahoon (1945) lists 'Aao Hum Aaj Chale' twice. The first is a duet by Shamshad Begum and Zeenat Begum written by Moti B.A.; this second entry carries a D. N. Madhok credit and no singer at all. Reprises with altered antaras were routine in 1940s Hindi films, and so were duplicated entries in period catalogues, and the sources available do not settle which this is. Both versions are catalogued here so the film's soundtrack listing stays faithful to what the registers actually record.

Nothing about the music of this version can be described from the sources. What is known is the practice around it: a 1940s film routinely reused a mukhda for a second situation — the same tune returning in a different key of feeling, often shortened, sometimes given to a different voice — and the second recording would then be pressed on its own side. Pandit Amarnath, who was composing several scores simultaneously in 1945 for Lahore and for Bombay, worked inside that convention like everyone else.

The mukhda is the same invitation as the first version — come, let us go today — with no destination named, which in film-song grammar leaves the line free to mean an outing in one scene and a departure in another. That flexibility is exactly why a mukhda gets reused. What is genuinely odd here is the lyricist credit: the first version is Moti B.A.'s and this one is D. N. Madhok's, which either means Madhok wrote new antaras onto Moti's opening or that one of the two attributions is a cataloguing error. No lyric text is reproduced here.

Kaise Kahoon was a Pancholi Art Pictures production from Lahore, directed by Moti B. Gidwani, released 16 November 1945 with a Bombay premiere at Imperial Cinema. Its cast was led by Ragini and Najam-ul-Hasan, with Gajanan Jagirdar, Baby Akhtar, Pran and Durga Mota in support; no source gives the characters they played. Neither the placement of the first 'Aao Hum Aaj Chale' nor of this reprise within the film is documented.

Duplicate and near-duplicate entries of this kind are one of the reasons the song count for Kaise Kahoon is given as eleven in some places and twelve in others. They are also a reminder of how the record of Lahore's cinema reaches us: not through prints or masters, most of which were destroyed or abandoned in 1947, but through gramophone catalogues and the Hindi Film Geet Kosh's reconstruction of them, with all the double-counting and blank fields that implies.
