The closing track on the Mahavatar Narsimha (Ishtar Music, 2025) Hindi soundtrack, this Aarti Version of Namaste Narsimha brings the album full circle — from the thunderous Roar of Narsimha at the opening to a luminous, intimate temple aarti at the close. Aparna Harikumar's voice, stripped of the full orchestral apparatus used in Track 2, is accompanied here only by harmonium, tabla, bells, and the traditional shankha (conch shell), evoking a personal moment of worship after the cosmic battle has been decided. The texts attributed to Vyasdeva and Jayadeva Goswami take on a new quality in this stripped-back setting — ancient words as everyday prayer rather than cinematic spectacle.
The Aarti Version is intentionally the album's most acoustically spare track — Sam C.S.'s answer to the question of what devotion sounds like once the battle is over. The harmonium carries the melodic line while tabla marks a steady aarti rhythm; Aparna Harikumar's voice floats above both without the supporting orchestra that carried the same text in Track 2. The effect is intimate in a way that the earlier orchestral version, for all its beauty, could not be: this is morning puja, not a film premiere.
Aarti texts follow a traditional pattern: naming the deity's attributes, recalling their deeds, and offering gratitude for protection. The Vyasdeva and Jayadeva Goswami texts used here are among the most beloved in the Vaishnava tradition — phrases that Indian household members have waved lamps to for centuries. Sam C.S.'s setting does not disrupt this tradition but places it in a 2025 animated film context, making it accessible to audiences who might be encountering these texts for the first time.
Director Ashwin Kumar insisted on ending the film with an aarti sequence — an unusual choice for an animated mythological action film. He felt that after the violence and spectacle of the Narasimha climax, the audience needed a moment of genuine peace and closure. Sam C.S. agreed, and the Aarti Version was recorded as the film's final musical statement, accompanying the closing credits.
The Aarti Version's presence on the album gave audiences a version of the Namaste Narsimha text they could actually perform at home — the stripped-back acoustic arrangement is suitable for personal devotional use in a way the orchestral version is not. This functional duality is one of the reasons the Mahavatar Narsimha soundtrack reached beyond regular film music listeners.
The Aarti Version (3:18) and the Orchestral Version (3:21) are nearly the same length, but completely different in texture — a deliberate structural decision by Sam CS.
Conch shell (shankha) performances are rare in mainstream Indian film soundtracks; its inclusion in the Aarti Version is a nod to authentic temple ritual.
Director Ashwin Kumar has cited the closing aarti sequence as his personal favourite moment in the film.

The lamp goes out; the name remains. That is always how aarti ends.

Composer Sam CS created an orchestral version (Track 2) for cinematic impact and an intimate aarti version (Track 7) for devotional use — the two versions bookend the album and serve different emotional purposes.
