This is the duet of the three songs Hemant Kumar recorded for Irada (1944), partnering Radha Rani — and as such it is among the very first Hindi-film duets the singer ever cut. Composed by Pandit Amarnath to Aziz Kashmiri's words, the title plays on the lover who keeps sulking 'day after day', a light domestic-romantic conceit. It survives in the hindigeetmala and MySwar listings for the film.

Pandit Amarnath gives the duet a lighter, more conversational lilt than the film's brooding solos, the dholak joining tabla to nudge the tempo forward and frame the call-and-response between the two voices. The arrangement keeps the harmonium central while allowing the playful give-and-take of Radha Rani's lead and the young Hemant Kumar's answering lines to carry the song's teasing tone.
