सैयाँ वे

Saiyyaan Ve (सैयाँ वे) is a Punjabi-Hindi track from the Netflix film Jogi (2022), composed by Julius Packiam with additional composition and lyrics by Raj Ranjodh, who also performs the song alongside singer Shadab Faridi. Released as part of the film's soundtrack on 9 September 2022, a week ahead of the film's Netflix premiere, the song was conceptualised by Ranjodh as what Netflix's own promotion described as 'a powerful track that embodies the spirit of never giving up on your loved ones' — a theme that mirrors the central plot of Jogi, in which the protagonist risks his life to protect his community during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The track features live instrumentation from guitarist Esani Dey, bassist Brennon Denfer and drummer Vinayak Pol, with music arrangement by Joel Crasto and mixing/mastering by Abhishek Ghatak.

Julius Packiam's composition for Saiyyaan Ve leans on live band instrumentation — guitars, bass and drums — giving it a more contemporary, folk-rock-adjacent texture than the soundtrack's other, more traditionally-rooted tracks. Jogi (2022), directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and led by Diljit Dosanjh, dramatises the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi through the story of Joginder Singh, who helps ferry his besieged neighbours to safety with the help of a Haryanvi policeman (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) and a Muslim truck driver (Paresh Pahuja). Saiyyaan Ve arrived as part of the soundtrack release on 9 September 2022, ahead of the film's 16 September Netflix premiere, and was positioned in promotional material as embodying the spirit of the film's central relationships — bonds tested and held onto under threat of violence.
