'Gaa Gaa Re Jiya Gaane' is one of two numbers in the 1942 social drama Kirti credited to the singer Rajkumari, with music by Harishchandra Bali and lyrics by Pandit Phani; the film was directed by Dada Gunjal. Its self-reflexive title — an exhortation to the heart to sing — is a familiar device of the era, the song that celebrates singing.
