बसाया होगा किसी को दिल में

One of the thirteen songs in Pannalal Ghosh's score for Police (1944), with lyrics by Ramesh Gupta. The singer is not credited on the available song listing. The title suggests a lyric of romantic reproach — addressing a beloved who has given their heart to another — fitting the predominantly romantic mood of the film's music.

Composed by Pannalal Ghosh, India's pre-eminent bansuri virtuoso, in his occasional capacity as a film music director. The available documentation lists the lyricist (Ramesh Gupta) but not the playback singer; the melody sits within the gentle, melody-forward idiom characteristic of Ghosh's film work.
