Thief of Iraq (1934) is a fantasy-action film produced by Jawahar Movies and directed by Kanjibhai Rathod. In the tradition of Arabian Nights escapism popular with early-talkie audiences, the film follows a daring thief in the storied city of Baghdad — transposed here to Iraq — navigating magic, treachery and romance. Notably, the music was composed by Ghulam Haider, who would later become one of the most influential music directors of the 1940s. This is one of his early film assignments.
