The second of the two Zid songs that carry no singer credit. hindigeetmala's track table leaves the singer column empty for it, myswar's listing shows only the composer and the film's lyricists, and hindigeetmala's own index page for Sunder — which accounts for the film's other six songs — does not include it. Three independent checks therefore point the same way: whoever sang it was not recorded, and no name is supplied here.

Not documented. No recording has been traced and no review of the Zid score has been found; the composer of record is G. A. Chishti and nothing further about the setting can honestly be stated.

The question in the title is the oldest complaint in the Indian lyric tradition: not that the flower withered, but that it bloomed at all — that beauty was allowed to begin knowing it must end. Asked as 'kyon', why, rather than 'kab', when, it turns a natural fact into a grievance against the arrangement of the world. The reading rests on the title alone; the body of the lyric is not preserved in any source consulted.

It sits in a score of eight songs written by G. A. Chishti for H. S. Rawail's second feature, a Calcutta production for Shree Bharatlaxmi Pictures headed by Ramola. Chishti was two years from Partition and four from his move to Pakistan, where he would help found that country's film music industry.

No trace beyond the catalogues. Its only documentary use is negative but real: it is one of the two songs that show how incomplete the surviving credit record for a 1945 film can be, even when two independent databases agree on everything else.
