The Monographपरिचय Overview

Mere Sawaal Ka (मेरे सवाल का) is a soft romantic ballad from Shehzada (2023), the Rohit Dhawan-directed family entertainer starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon. Composed by Pritam with lyrics by Shloke Lal, the song is sung by Shashwat Singh and Shalmali Kholgade and was released as the third promotional single from the soundtrack on 2 February 2023, two weeks ahead of the film's 17 February theatrical release. Slower and more understated than the soundtrack's other singles, it functions as the film's tender courtship-ballad moment, picturized on the two leads, and found a secondary life through a later 'King Version' rendition released as an additional take on the same composition.
The Music

Pritam keeps the arrangement of Mere Sawaal Ka spare and melody-forward, giving Shashwat Singh's warm, slightly husky voice room to carry the song's yearning tone before Shalmali Kholgade's softer vocal answers him. The pacing is deliberately unhurried compared to the soundtrack's more upbeat entries like Chedkhaniyan, positioning this as the album's tender, mid-film emotional beat rather than a dance-floor number.
The Poetry

Shloke Lal's lyric builds around a simple, effective conceit — 'jo dil ke mohalle mein tu aa gaya' (since you arrived in the neighbourhood of my heart) — turning the abstract idea of falling in love into the concrete image of someone moving into one's own heart like a new neighbour. The refrain 'mere sawaal ka tu hi jawaab hai' (you are the answer to my question) frames the beloved not as a discovery but as a resolution — the missing piece to something the singer had long been quietly wondering about.
The Story

Shehzada follows Bantu (Kartik Aaryan), raised by a working-class family after being swapped at birth with the biological son of a wealthy businessman, as he navigates his dual identity and his romance with Samara (Kriti Sanon). Mere Sawaal Ka arrives as the film's softer, more reflective courtship track, released on 2 February 2023 as part of T-Series' staggered single rollout for the soundtrack — following Munda Sona Hoon Main and Chedkhaniyan, and preceding the Character Dheela 2.0 recreation.
The Legacy

Mere Sawaal Ka did not chart as prominently as some of Shehzada's other singles, reflecting the film's broader commercial underperformance, but its official T-Series video still drew tens of millions of YouTube views, and the composition was revisited with a separate 'King Version' rendition released later — an increasingly common practice in Hindi film music where a soundtrack song is reissued with a different lead vocalist to extend its shelf life beyond the film's theatrical run.
