The Monographपरिचय Overview

Roar of Ruslaan (रोर ऑफ़ रुसलान) is the title anthem of the 2024 action film Ruslaan, written and performed by rapper Mellow D and composed by Rajat Nagpal. Released on the Saregama Music channel on 20 April 2024, just days ahead of the film's 26 April theatrical release, the track functions as the movie's motivational hero-theme — a beat-driven rap anthem built to score the arc of Aayush Sharma's title character, a young man who joins RAW and fights to rise above the shadow of his past. Where the film's other singles (Vishal Mishra's 'Taade', 'Dil Phisal Gaya', 'Dua-e-Khair') lean romantic or devotional, 'Roar of Ruslaan' is the soundtrack's adrenaline piece, all conviction and defiance.
The Music

Composed by Rajat Nagpal — one of the three music directors on Ruslaan alongside Vishal Mishra and Akashdeep Sengupta — 'Roar of Ruslaan' is a fast, beat-forward rap anthem rather than a melody-led film song. Nagpal builds it as a hard-hitting hip-hop chassis designed to underscore the film's action beats, over which Mellow D delivers the vocal in a rhythmic, spoken-rap cadence rather than a sung melody. The result sits closer to a motivational sports/action-montage anthem than to a traditional Bollywood number, using rap's percussive drive to carry the film's title and its message of never giving up.
The Poetry

Mellow D writes as well as performs the track, giving it the first-person, self-declarative voice typical of anthem rap: the lyric is framed around the film's title figure roaring back against adversity, leaning on the 'roar' image as a metaphor for finding one's own strength and refusing to back down. In keeping with contemporary Bollywood hip-hop, the writing mixes everyday Hindi with English phrasing (the very title is English), aimed at a young, bilingual audience and built for chant-along impact rather than layered classical Hindi-Urdu poetry. (Full verbatim lyrics were not accessible from a verifiable source at the time of writing, so no lyric preview is reproduced here.)
The Story

Ruslaan (2024) is an action-thriller directed by Karan Lalit Butani and produced by Sri Sathya Sai Arts, starring Aayush Sharma in the title role as a young man who joins India's RAW to escape the shadow of his terrorist father, alongside Sushrii Shreya Mishraa, Jagapathi Babu and Vidya Malvade. 'Roar of Ruslaan' is the film's title anthem, dropped on Saregama Music on 20 April 2024, six days before the movie opened in cinemas on 26 April — positioned as the hard, action-forward companion to the soundtrack's earlier romantic single 'Taade'. As the film's motivational theme, the song scores the hero's defiance and rise, mirroring Ruslaan's own arc from a haunted past to reluctant action hero.
The Legacy

Ruslaan underperformed at the box office — reportedly earning around ₹2.70 crore against a ₹25 crore budget, with mixed-to-negative reviews — and 'Roar of Ruslaan' remained a modest OST cut rather than a breakout hit, its official Saregama video drawing a few hundred thousand YouTube views. Its lasting interest is mainly as a credit in Mellow D's filmi catalogue: the rapper — who both wrote and sang the anthem — is part of the wave of hip-hop artists moving into Bollywood soundtracks, and the track stands as an example of the action-film 'hero-anthem' increasingly being handed to rappers rather than to conventional playback singers.
