The Monographपरिचय Overview

'Tune Loot Liya Mohe Andheriya Mein' is one of the nine documented songs of Shararat (1944), the light social comedy produced and directed by Kishore Sahu under his Hindustan Chitra banner. It is the sole song on the film credited to the lyricist A. Karim, its title — 'you robbed me in the darkness' — casting a romantic complaint in the imagery of the night. The music is by the joint team of S. N. Tripathi and Khan Mastana. As with most early-1940s programme films, the playback singer for this number is not recorded in surviving documentation.
The Music

Set by S. N. Tripathi and Khan Mastana, this romantic number is the only one on the Shararat score written by A. Karim; its theme of being stolen away in the dark fits the melodic, sentimental idiom of the studios' love songs of the war years, though no recording detail survives to confirm the arrangement.
