A social romance from Madan Theatres directed by J. J. Madan himself, Muflis Ashiq (The Penniless Lover) explored the perennial Urdu-stage theme of love across economic disparity. The central figure — an impoverished young man whose devotion is pure but whose circumstances are straitened — navigates the social barriers erected by wealth and propriety.
