HindiGeet.in is a curated reference library and discovery platform for Hindi music — often described
as “the IMDb of Hindi songs.” It documents over 90 years of Hindi film and classical music (1931 to the present): the
songs, the singers, lyricists and composers, the films, and the deeper musical fabric behind them — raags, taals,
thaats, gharanas, instruments, and the stories that connect them.
What we do
We are not a streaming service or a lyrics site. We are an editorial metadata and discovery
database. For each song we research and present its credits, context, musical classification, and original editorial
commentary, alongside legally embedded players (YouTube, Spotify) so you can listen, and links to licensed streaming
platforms. Where lyrics are shown, they respect copyright — full lyrics appear only for public-domain or licensed
material; otherwise we show a short preview and point to authorised sources.
Why we built it
Hindi music is one of the richest popular-music traditions in the world, yet its history is scattered and often
poorly documented online. HindiGeet.in exists to organise that heritage into something explorable — so a curious
listener can travel from a single song to its raag, its composer’s other work, the film it came from, and the era that
shaped it.
Our approach to quality
Entries are researched from public sources and reference works, cross-checked, and written as original editorial — we
do not republish other sites’ articles. Music theory and historical facts are verified against multiple sources where
possible, and pages that do not yet meet our quality bar are marked for improvement. See our

Who runs HindiGeet
HindiGeet.in is an independent project created and maintained by a small team with a long-standing interest in Hindi
music and its history, building on years of running large Hindi-language communities online. It is a labour of love,
supported by advertising to keep it free for everyone.

वैध रूप से एम्बेड किए गए प्लेयर (YouTube, Spotify) ताकि आप सुन सकें, और लाइसेंस-प्राप्त स्ट्रीमिंग प्लेटफ़ॉर्म के लिंक।
जहाँ बोल (lyrics) दिखाए जाते हैं, वहाँ कॉपीराइट का सम्मान किया जाता है — पूर्ण बोल केवल सार्वजनिक-डोमेन या लाइसेंस-प्राप्त
