Ek Jaan Se Duniya is the second of two original songs Indian Ocean composed for Bhagwan Bharose (2023), Shiladitya Bora's directorial debut, released as a standalone single on 3 December 2023 — roughly seven weeks after the film's 13 October theatrical release — via Rhythm Boyz Entertainment. All four members of the band (Amit Kilam, Himanshu Joshi, Nikhil Rao, Rahul Ram) share composer and vocalist credit, with lyrics by Sanjeev Sharma. Where the film's other original track, Chai Pakoda, works in a wry, satirical register, Ek Jaan Se Duniya turns inward and devotional, built around the image of a single divine light ('noor') from which every living flame is lit — a fitting musical counterpart to a film centred on two boys whose childhood faith is complicated by the adult world around them. As with much of Indian Ocean's post-2010 film work, the song functions as a standalone spiritual meditation as much as a scene-specific playback number.

Ek Jaan Se Duniya slows Indian Ocean's usual folk-rock energy into a meditative, near-four-and-a-half-minute arrangement, with all four band members — Kilam, Joshi, Rao and Ram — sharing both composition and vocal duty rather than assigning a single lead. The extended runtime and unhurried build are consistent with the band's long history of Sufi-inflected, slow-burn compositions (in the lineage of earlier Indian Ocean tracks like 'Bandeh'), letting the repeated 'ek hi noor se' refrain function almost like a chant.

Sanjeev Sharma's lyric works in the register of Sufi and bhakti poetry, using 'noor' (divine light) and 'lau' (flame) — vocabulary shared across Hindi-Urdu devotional traditions — to argue that every living being is lit from the same single source, and is therefore, at root, one soul ('ek jaan') wearing the appearance of many. The line 'jaan le, maan le, sab jaan ek hi' (know it, accept it, every life is one) frames the song's spiritual argument as a direct address to the listener, a device common to Indian Ocean's most enduring compositions.

The song plays against the backdrop of Bhagwan Bharose's central concern — two boys, Bhola and Shambhu, whose understanding of faith is unsettled by the adult, socio-politically charged world encroaching on their small town. While Chai Pakoda supplies the film's wry, satirical register, Ek Jaan Se Duniya offers the counter-argument embedded in the film's spiritual undercurrent: beneath the pretence and division the boys witness, the song insists on an underlying unity of all life. Released as a single well after the film's own October 2023 theatrical run, the track has functioned largely as a standalone spiritual piece for listeners beyond the film's own festival-circuit audience.

As a late-released single from a small festival-circuit film, Ek Jaan Se Duniya has not built a large public streaming footprint, but it extends Indian Ocean's decades-long reputation as one of Hindi cinema's most respected purveyors of Sufi-tinged, spiritually themed compositions — a lineage that includes their widely loved 'Bandeh' — into the register of a full narrative feature soundtrack rather than a live-album or independent release.
