Stuart DaCosta is a Mumbai-based bassist, music producer and film composer, best known as the bass player of the indie pop-rock band The Yellow Diary. A veteran of Mumbai's independent circuit, he played with bands including Something Relevant and Baycity Lights before joining The Yellow Diary — a mid-career switch from an earlier stint as an account executive. Beyond the band, DaCosta works in film and screen music through the Salvage Audio Collective, with score credits that include Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy (2019), the Netflix ballet drama Yeh Ballet (2020) and the docuseries Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi (2022). His bass anchors The Yellow Diary's 2025 album 'In Case We Forget' (Universal Music India), spanning the band's signature songs 'Roz Roz' featuring Shilpa Rao, 'Marz', 'Dheere Se' and 'Yun Hi Kahin'. He describes his omnivorous approach across bands, films and production simply: a mercenary for music.
